Logos & Branding
May 23 2008, 10:55 AM EDT Hi all, our library is looking to create/ redesign our logo. Does anyone have any suggestions? Specifically, I'd love to know any graphic design/ advertising companies you've used and been happy with, and I'd love to know how much in-house development there was (staff involvement, comittees, etc.). Any info you can pass along would be great!"Hi Liz, To design Southfield's logo we used a company from Ann Arbor - Bidlack Design - they are great to work with but are on the pricy side. I'd also recommend our graphic designer, Ellen Chang, she works here at SPL 20 hours a week doing graphic design and everything else with gusto but also does side jobs on her own. Jun 5 2008, 5:21 PM EDT Foursight Creative Group (www.foursightcreative.com) here in Plymouth designed our logo about 2 years ago. A few of us met with them to get the ball rolling. When the designers came back with 5-7 options, I had the staff all share reactions. Originally I had really stressed how we were more than a building -yet when the design suggestions came back with no visual reference to the building, I realized that wouldn't work. Our building does have an impact on the local landscape and we moved the design process in that direction. The original bid specified a range of first drafts and revisions. When we went over that, we did pay additional expenses. Foursight then continued to redesign our newsletter and website - go to plymouthlibrary.org to see their work. Sep 4 2008, 12:43 PM EDT We're a smaller library in Northern Michigan. We have a noted wildlife artist in our service area who designed our logo and donated his services. Our board made suggestions and looked over the designs he provided. We've been very happy of the the result. You may have a talented artist in your area who would be pleased to help you.
